Cold Case: The New Year’s Day Disappearance of Venita Holzman

What happened to Venita Holzman? On January 1, 1963, the woman was last seen leaving her job at the Flamingo Hotel. Very little information exists in her case, but her disappearance remains listed as a cold case with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. How could a woman vanish seemingly without a trace, and leave behind no one to fill in the blanks of the details of her disappearance?

Venita Holzman was 22-years-old at the time of her disappearance. She would be in her mid-80s as this post is being written. Over the course of the past several decades, there have been no updates in her case. There has been, however, public interest in this Las Vegas cold case — and with that comes plenty of speculation. Sadly, with there being just no publicly available details on her case, speculating can only go so far. What is known about Holzman is that she’d been married and divorced in the years leading up to her disappearance, but that could be irrelevant to her case. However, it should be noted that Venita had cited “extreme cruelty” as the reason for her divorce in 1957, which was in Fresno, California. She was pregnant at the time of the divorce, but no adult children have ever come out publicly in search of their mother.

It’s been over 60 years since Venita Holzman vanished from Las Vegas, Nevada — and it’s likely that her case will remain unsolved for many more years to come. With there being no public information and nobody coming forward to demand answers, the dust on this cold case remains inches-thick.
